The people are friendly and rehab was very good and the food was as good and better than I would have thought. The only compliment I have is that some of the administration tried to turn my 83 year old mom with a broken hip from a rehab limited time patient into a full time resident. I swear when I told one of the people that we would not be changing our insurance so that mother could extend her stay by months, she looked like she had just lost a commission. She was not happy. Mom got better and left early. She was mostly happy with her time at the venue. Like most places good and bad, but the people seem to care. Ron Gregory ★★★★★ This is an honest review of Park Place Nursing and Rehab in Monroe Georgia.My mother in law just came home after almost 6 weeks after a hospital stay for Compression fractures and a bad UTI. She is 86 and has cognitive issues. First, let me qualify myself. I am retired having been Director of healthcare facility services in two major Healthcare hospital organizations . One of these had 3 nursing homes at the time. Believe me, I know what goes on and should go on in these facilities. On day 1 we had just arrived in the room and were met by our concierge. Explained every thing to us including giving us her personal cell phone in case we had any questions or concerns.Now, because of my background, I cannot help but look for things that most do not. My departments included Housekeeping, Dietary, Security and I was Safety Officer and HazMat Coordinator. This facility is very clean and well maintained. I saw Housekeeping and Maintenance staff at work every day..... and we visited every day. Nursing staff was very hard working and interactive. There seemed to be a mutual respect among all the staff, for each other. It takes a lot of hard work to meet JCAHO accreditation standards. Week 2 we had a combined meeting with all coordinators of the different departments . We were impressed as we discussed my MIL's care plan. Every week day she had PT. We encouraged her to eat in the cafeteria instead of her room. She's a sweet lady but not very social. They had movies, sing a longs, etc.. When we were in her room, visiting in the late afternoons, we could always hear singing and laughter from the common room. As I said, we were there almost 6 weeks and this was the norm. I can't name all the staff we interacted with and that's a shame. They are all deserving of being highlighted. I will mention her nurse, Roseline. My MIL doesn't want to have to come back but she will miss her nurse. The Rehab Director, Kathy was there helping to turn around the room for the next patients. She certainly takes an active role in the facility and doesn't just sit in an office. She has only been the Director for about a year but has ample previous experience, as we discussed. Now, I don't have my rose colored glasses on. Everyone has their own experience. This was ours, but these folks are working hard to make this a good place with good outcomes.We were previously in another place, in Flowery Branch that was so bad that we removed my MIL, AMA. It was bad and unsafe. Now we are home and this woman, who couldn't get out of bed is using her walker and feeling so much more positive.
